Today was spent entirely in Arizona, mainly because there's so many things to see here.
We started out our journey with a trip to the Petrified Forest - a bunch of logs that turned to rock through a process still not fully understood. Then we passed through the Painted Desert - a wide expanse of valleys and eroded soil that is spectacular to view.
It started to rain as we headed to Meteor Crater, the largest whole in the ground that I've ever seen. We pulled into Flagstaff and stopped for a bite to eat at The Museum Club - a Country Music club built in the 30's that has hosted a variety of big time names in country music.
When we got there the band was rehearsing for their evening's performance. Because the rain was coming down pretty good, and the hour was getting late, we checked in to the Radisson Hotel for rest and relaxation and are leaving the Grand Canyon for tomorrow's first stop.
